Shiny nappa doesn't behave like patent: the shine runs deeper, less plastic, and with wear the creases across the instep draw themselves in fine lines that lift the tone a shade. In burgundy that finish does something very specific — under artificial light the color closes almost to black, and in short daylight it opens into wine red. The kiltie fringe breaks up the polished surface and creates a matte band by contrast of shadows. The square metal buckle, oversized for the shoe, is the only cold element in the whole thing. 

Who is SIENA 2121 in Burgundy for?
For anyone who wears flats all winter and wants the foot to register. It works with straight wool trousers and a thick sock on show, with dark denim turned up at the ankle, and with a midi skirt and opaque tights. Burgundy sits well with charcoal, camel and bottle green, and argues with navy in an interesting way. 

Design and stride
A flat shoe with a sharp toe, kiltie fringe and an adjustable buckled strap across the instep. Heel of 1.5 cm and a 0.5 slope: the stride is practically level, with just enough heel lift to keep the ground from feeling hard. The comfort last leaves real width across the toes, something the tapered point hides from the outside. The TPU sole has a discreet tread and grips on wet pavement, which is what you ask of it in January.

Materials and construction
The TPU sole is light, abrasion-resistant and firm enough to give the shoe structure without stiffening the step; it is joined to the upper by cemented construction. Inside, a 100% microfibre lining and a removable insole, so you can swap in a wool one or your own without fighting the fit. The interior is Chrome Free, tanned without chromium. Above, the upper in shiny nappa, with the fringe stitched to the vamp and the buckled strap adjustable over several holes. New for the season.

Size guide
True to size within the comfort last, which is generous across the forefoot. Shiny nappa gives very little: the instep settles over a few days, but don't expect it to gain a size, so take the winter sock you plan to wear as your reference. The buckle corrects the instep and holds the heel; with fine tights, one hole further in is enough.
